I’ve been following your fun filled family adventures since “Christmas Jammies.” I just want to encourage you to enter the fifties with a wide open spirit. It truly is a great decade of life. Empty nest. Freedom to travel. Financially more secure. And the aches and pains of older age haven’t kicked in yet. Enjoy this Season of Life!
Kim, or anyone reading this, I have a suggestion for your charitable goal, to add to the regular big and small organizations I'm sure you already support.
Find a mutual aid group in your area (I'm part of a local Facebook group). There are requests from neighbors in need, and there are often more requests than there are people able to help out. Often it's very specific asks, like diapers or a birthday cake or a few dollars to help pay a bill. People can feel free to help or not whenever they want.
Sometimes people just need a little help to get through a tough spot. It's nice knowing exactly how my donation is helping because I'm usually giving directly to a neighbor. Good luck with your goals. 💜
Happy Birthday! My dad is turning 80 next month so my siblings and I have been trying to decide what to do. We've settled on making a memory book for him (he does zero technology, but loves pictures). We also wanted to gift him an experience I think we've settled on skydiving. LOL
Happy Birthday. Enjoy every day and travel if you can. I'm half way into my 70s and found late 60s and now in my 70s to be the best. Older, wiser (I hope), retired, enjoying time with family and traveling more now than ever. Look forward to next decades as the best is yet to come.
For me, I’m 45. My life is kinda split in 2 ways. My dad died in 2004 when I was 24 years old. That was when life was as perfect as it can get. I changed after he died. He was only 49 (not to freak you out. He had stage 4 throat cancer). As I’m nearing my later 40’s, I’m realizing how precious life is and how young he was when he passed away. Someone said to me at the funeral “He learned all of God’s lessons early in life”. His funeral was seriously like if George Bailey died and hearing how much his small yet meaningful life changed so many lives. With that said, I plan on going all out on my 50th birthday. I think year 49 will be the toughest for me since I will see how young he actually was. Happy birthday Kim. I don’t mean this to be a downer comment but life is precious and you must enjoy it. And yes I agree with you. My 20’s were a mess, my 30’s were a mess until I was 35 then I kinda figured things out. I’m blessed with good genes and look younger than I actually am. This is a great idea and I think I will make a list when I’m 49. It’s very inspiring
Jeanne Calment of France died in 1997 at the age of 122. 50 isn't even half of that age. So young you are. Just imagine all the knowledge you've gained to date added to the knowledge you'll gain ahead - so much to give to this world! Open that door and walk proudly in.
Just wait till you get to the “I don’t care anymore ” stage. It’s pretty awesome.
I wrote a whole post about the perks of turning 60 :)

Congrats! I love how you are sharing the process of aging well and enjoying where you are. Well done! 💙
Happy Birthday!
I just finished the podcast and I also am turning 50 next year.
You have given me a lot of food for thought. I can’t wait to follow along side you over this next year!
I turned 50 11 days ago. So far, so good. I’m getting divorced this year. Being single at 50 was not on my bingo card but I’m happy to be here.
Happy Birthday!
